Controls
Absence of Color is designed for the gamepad. Keyboard and mouse come as a second control scheme.
Gamepad
The table shows the planned layout from the game concept, with the buttons of an Xbox controller. In the prototype, walking and the light attack work so far. A or Start also skips the level assembly.
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| left stick | walk |
| B | dodge (sidestep) |
| B, B (quick double tap) | dodge roll |
| RB | light attack |
| RT | heavy attack |
| LB | block |
| LT | ranged attack |
| press the right stick (R3) | lock on to a target |
| X | use an item from the quick menu |
| D-pad up and down | scroll through the quick menu |
| Y | special action |
| hold Y | open the special action menu (the game pauses), select with the left stick |
The hero’s speed follows how far you push the stick, and diagonals are no faster. The hero faces one of four directions, and the attack goes that way too.
Keyboard and mouse
In the prototype you walk with W, A, S and D, attack with the left mouse button and skip the level assembly with Space or Enter. The rest of the layout, and whether you can aim with the mouse, is not decided yet.
This page describes the prototype. Whatever changes on the way to the finished game will be added here.
